Meet the Team

Mark Haywood
Founder - President of the Board

For nearly 16 years, Mark has led international development projects in East Africa, India, Haiti and Central America as well as urban development projects and disaster relief efforts in the US.

In 2019, Mark launched a rehabilitation model for street children in Kenya, and collaborated to plan a new kind of NGO. MWI would be motivated by compassion for children in desperate situations but driven by the innovation, efficiency and operational excellence found in top corporations. This new NGO would be unhindered by religious or political agendas and would more closely resemble an innovation consulting firm than a human services agency.

While traditional charity projects dedicated to building infrastructure and reducing access barriers are necessary (hospitals, schools, clean water wells, etc.), they have proven insufficient in generating sustainable changes in developing nations, especially among children and youth. Complex societal challenges require innovative and sophisticated solutions. MWI endeavors to be at the axis of where international community development, technology and behavioral sciences meet.
